Wed. Sept. 8

What a day for Lisa! She was moved from IMC to a rehabilitation clinic in Sandy. She was really nervous and scared but I think after she talked with their Dr. and got settled in, she was okay. She is getting really antsy to get up and get moving so she can get better. The Dr. kinda had to put her in place and really stressed the importance  of not bearing any weight on her leg or arm. Which basically means she can't move around a whole lot.

Her spirits are still up and down. She's trying her darndest to maintain hope though and after talking to the dr. she was more encouraged.

I know that so many of you are anxious to see her and all that she asks is that you call/text ahead of time. Sometimes she is sleeping, other times she'll be in therapy, and sometimes she just doesn't feel up to seeing people. Also, the nurse who checked her in said that visitors are very limited. She suggested no more than 3. She said to keep visits VERY short (10 min. max) and to remember that it's still a hospital facility where there are other patients (aka - keep quiet...lol).

You are welcome to text me: Celeste 801-230-9876  and then we can see what she's feeling like, what her schedule is and all that. Another 'courtesy' rule we ask is to not bring up running, exercise, biking, etc (unless she brings it up). Stuff like "when you get out of here you'll be running another marathon." She is still extremely sensitive about her condition. It's sorta like rubbing salt in the wound - we expect her to make a full recovery, but she has made it clear that she has no desire to get on a bike again - and if she does continue to run, the most she would ever do is a 10K. I hope no one feels like this is us being rude or regulating her. We just feel like we are looking out for her best interests and are trying to be as sensitive to her feelings and conditions as possible. When that sort of stuff is talked about, it seems to really depress her even more and it's kind of a cruel reminder of what she 'can't' do...and we all know that about her -- there's NOTHING she can't do...ha ha ha ha. She'd probably jump out of bed just to prove people wrong. :)

Anyway -- sorry for the soapbox rule moment. She was talking today about how amazing the support has been and how much she misses school, the kids, church, friends, etc. She started crying and talking about her job. She loves her job so much - It will be a sweet day when she enters those doors to get back to work.

She did want me to express her love to all of you and to thank everyone for their continued prayers given on her behalf. I am certain that had it not been for all of those prayers, that she might not even be with us today. I'm grateful that she is! She truly is grateful for each of you! As a family, we too are grateful! Now go and hold your families a little tighter knowing how precious life really is and tell each member how much you love them. You won't regret it!
